District Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee Chair

Position Summary:

The DEI Committee Chair leads the district’s efforts to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion across all Rotary clubs within the district. This role is central to embedding DEI principles in the culture and operations of the district, ensuring that Rotary's values of diversity and inclusivity are reflected in its membership and actions. The Chair facilitates the development and implementation of DEI strategies and policies, collaborating with district leaders and clubs to foster an environment where every member feels valued and can participate fully.

This position plays a strategic role in ensuring that Rotary remains a forward-thinking and inclusive organization. The DEI Committee Chair will be at the forefront of creating a welcoming and supportive environment for all members and promoting the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion within the Rotary District.

Key Responsibilities:

·         Strategic Leadership: Guide the district in creating a comprehensive DEI strategy that aligns with Rotary International's values and objectives.

·         Committee Management: Oversee the DEI Committee, setting goals, assigning tasks, and ensuring the committee’s work supports district-wide DEI initiatives.

·         Advocacy: Champion the importance of DEI within the district, advocating for inclusive practices and policies in all aspects of Rotary operations.

·         Club Collaboration: Work directly with club leaders to evaluate and enhance their DEI practices, ensuring they align with the district’s DEI strategy.

·         Education and Training: Collaborate with the District Learning and Development Committee to create and deliver DEI-focused workshops and resources.

·         Membership Growth: Partner with the Membership Committee to drive efforts for recruiting and retaining a diverse membership reflective of the community’s demographics.

·         Policy Formulation: Lead the development of DEI policies and procedures for the district, ensuring they are integrated into all district and club activities.

·         Resource Development: Compile and distribute DEI resources, including educational materials and guidelines for best practices in inclusive leadership.

·         Progress Monitoring: Regularly assess the district’s DEI progress, addressing challenges and reporting successes to the district leadership and Rotary International as appropriate.
