Position Summary:
The District PolioPlus Committee Chair is responsible for
spearheading the district's initiatives to support Rotary International's goal
to eradicate polio. This role involves leading the district in awareness,
fundraising, and advocacy efforts related to the PolioPlus program. The Chair
serves as a dynamic leader, adapting strategies based on the club compositions,
existing knowledge of the program, and the level of engagement from district
and club leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement
comprehensive strategies to raise funds for PolioPlus, ensuring the
involvement of all clubs in the district.
- Organize and oversee
district-wide PolioPlus events and awareness campaigns to foster community
participation and support.
- Educate new and existing Rotary
members on the importance of polio eradication and how their contributions
aid in achieving both PolioPlus goals and their Paul Harris Fellow
recognition.
- Serve as the primary liaison
between the district and Rotary International, providing updates on
PolioPlus activities and managing communications.
- Monitor the progress of each
club towards their PolioPlus goals, sharing successful fundraising tactics
and insights across the district.
- Encourage club leadership to
set and pursue aggressive annual PolioPlus goals, including the
organization of at least one dedicated fundraiser per club annually.
- Report on the district’s
financial contributions and PolioPlus activities to both district
leadership and Rotary International.
- Maintain a supportive and
cooperative environment among all Rotary members to enhance collaboration
and effectiveness in polio eradication efforts.
Qualifications:
- Strong commitment to and
knowledge of Rotary’s mission to eradicate polio.
- Proven leadership abilities
with experience in fundraising and advocacy within Rotary or similar
contexts.
- Excellent communication,
organizational, and interpersonal skills to effectively manage diverse
stakeholder groups and initiatives.
