The Peace Fellowships Committee Member plays a crucial role in promoting peace by guiding and endorsing applicants for the Rotary Peace Fellowships. The member is responsible for identifying potential fellowship candidates, providing support during the application process, and engaging in the selection process to endorse the most qualified candidates.
District Rotary Peace Fellowships Chair
One Year, renewable
· Meetings: Participate in at least two meetings per Rotary Year to discuss and review the progress and strategies of the Rotary Peace Fellowships (RPF) subcommittee.
· Training: Complete the annual RPF endorser training provided by the Rotary Peace Centers to stay updated on the latest criteria and selection processes.
One or more of the following:
· Website Management: Update and maintain the content of the RPF page on the District 6270 website.
· Promotion: Actively advertise the fellowship program within the district and at educational institutions within the geographical area of District 6270.
· Candidate Support: Guide potential applicants through the RPF application process, offering insights and assistance to ensure high-quality applications.
· Interviews and Evaluation: Interview applicants, evaluate their potential as peacebuilders, and select individuals for endorsement as Rotary Peace Fellows.
· Endorsement Writing: If trained as an RPF endorser, write thoughtful and comprehensive endorsements or declinations for fellowship applicants.
· Publicity: Contribute content for district publicity regarding Rotary Peace Fellows endorsed by the district.
· Fellow Engagement: Maintain contact with RPF Fellows endorsed by the district for updates and ongoing publicity efforts.
· District Involvement: Involve RPF Fellows in District 6270 activities, conferences, and local club presentations to enhance the visibility and impact of the Rotary Peace Fellowships.
· Commitment to Peace: A strong commitment to the advancement of peace and understanding both locally and globally.
· Interview Skills: Experience with interviewing and evaluating candidates, preferably within an educational or professional setting.
· Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Networking: Ability to network and promote programs to a wide range of audiences.
· Training: Willingness to complete the necessary training to become an effective RPF endorser.
· Understanding of Rotary's Mission: Knowledge of Rotary’s mission and vision, particularly in relation to peacebuilding and conflict prevention.
· Cultural Sensitivity: Sensitivity to cultural differences and an understanding of global issues related to peace and conflict.
· Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically about candidate selection to maximize the impact of the Rotary Peace Fellowships.
